Support the BCA Emergency
& Disaster Relief Fund
The Barbados Canada Association (“BCA”) presents the Barbados 54th Independence Celebration & Fundraising Virtual Event to be held on November 21, 2020: 6:00 – 9:00 pm. This year Raffle proceeds will be used to create an Emergency Disaster & Relief Fund (1) to benefit Barbadians in Barbados in the event of a hurricane or other disaster that might affect the island and (2) assist Barbadian visitors to Toronto needing urgent assistance.
From time to time Barbadian visitors need emergency assistance from the diaspora. In the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic a mother and daughter were stranded in Toronto as they tried to return to Barbados from Montreal. The flight from Montreal was late in departing causing them to miss their connecting flight in Toronto.
The BCA, organizations and individuals in the diaspora got together and assisted with accommodation and other necessities until another Air Canada flight was available to take them home.
Last year, due to unforeseen circumstances, a group visiting from Barbados missed their return flight home. Again, the BCA together with assistance from other organizations and individuals assisted the group until they returned to Barbados.
This is just an example of what we have done and what we wish to continue doing. At last year’s Independence Event, we raised just under $3,000 from the Raffle and our goal this year is to raise $4,000.
We cannot do this without you!
Help us reach our goal – please support our cause.
